Levels of Cover

At the very least, you will need a Road Risk Policy to be covered to carry out tyre/windscreen fitting work. This comes in three types:

Third Party Only (TPO) covers you if you cause damage to someone else’s vehicle in a fault accident or if you injure a third party. It’s the lowest level of cover you can take out for Road Risk Insurance.

Third Party, Fire & Theft (TPFT) provides all the same protection as TPO cover, as well as the cost of your vehicle if it’s stolen or damaged by fire (minus any excess).

Comprehensive cover will cover almost all accident scenarios. It includes everything covered in TPO and TPFT, as well as cover for damage to your own vehicle.

Additional cover

You also have the option* to take out additional policies alongside your Road Risk Insurance to provide you the most protection/peace of mind:

  • Public liability insurance
  • Employers’ liability insurance
  • Tools and equipment cover
  • Defective workmanship cover
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Engineering inspection cover
  • Commercial vehicle cover
  • Business premises cover (if you trade from a premises)

*You may also be legally required to take out additional policies depending on your business needs. For example, if you employ staff, you will need to take out Employers’ Liability cover.
