Patons Insurance has embarked on a new course with Admiral Business to support the launch of a new taxi insurance product to the UK market.
The announcement on March 26th saw Admiral Business combine its wealth of motor insurance experience across the UK with the taxi industry knowhow of Patons to initiate its first steps into the taxi and PHV sector.
Admiral Business has chosen the insurance-broking sector to develop a range of commercial insurance products that will be distributed through carefully selected broker-partners who have experience in their respective industries. Patons is one of a limited panel of brokers to have partnered with the South Wales-based insurer on this new taxi-focussed opportunity.
Away from taxi insurance, other commercial products in the Admiral Business portfolio include (non-taxi) motor fleet, public liability, professional indemnity, and tools/materials insurance, covering a wide scope of industry sectors from traditional trades to graphic designers and professional service organisations.
However, this new taxi-specific product is initially designed to target the motor insurance needs of owner-drivers, private-hire proprietors across England, Scotland and Wales. Coverage for purpose-built hackney vehicles and multi-vehicle/fleet owners will follow in due course.
Patons Insurance Managing Director Darren Roberts said: “Patons has been providing taxi and PHV insurance for more than 50 years and we are constantly trying to find new ways to improve the products and services we provide to our customers.
“Admiral is a major UK motor insurer, covering almost 20% of the private cars on our roads. That depth of knowledge brings a wealth of expertise to our sector along with an extensive claims network of approved repair facilities across the country – something that our taxi customers may now benefit from through the potential of insuring their private hire or taxi vehicle with Admiral (Business).”
For Mr Roberts, as well as improving the insurance offering, it was important that Patons found a partner that matched its own ethos and values, including the all-important factor of having customer service at the core of its offering.
He said: ” When talking to Admiral Business, it became clear from the outset that we would complement each other well. We are a family business and we maintain such values dear – putting people first and helping them with the needs and challenges they face. Admiral Business is part of a huge UK insurance group, but its approach to people and to putting customer service at the heart of its business sits hand-in-glove with our culture and I’m confident our customers, will benefit over an extended period of time as a result of this development.”
The newly launched initiative between the two firms adds further weight to an already-impressive list of taxi insurance providers that partner with Patons Insurance. The majority of the UK’s leading and most experienced taxi insurance underwriters form part of the panel of providers that allow Patons to deliver an unprecedented range of taxi-specific products and services to customers.
