The Coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed all our daily lives. Over these anxious months, while the primary concern for everyone has been health, for the self-employed getting back to work has been equally important.
We know that many Patons customers found our blog post about the Government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) really helpful, but did you know applications for a second grant open on Monday 17 August?
What do I need to know?
Latest figures show that 2.7 million claims, worth more than £7.7 billion, were made for grant one.
While it works in exactly the same way, this time pay outs will now be based on 70% of your average monthly trading profits paid out in one lump sum, though these will be capped at £2,190 per month, or £6,570 in total.
You do not need to have claimed the first grant to receive the second, but you will need to prove that your business has been adversely affected by Coronavirus on or after 14th July 2020 to apply.
What do I need to do?
To make a claim through the SEISS you will need your:
- Self-Assessment Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)
- National Insurance number
- Government Gateway user ID and password – if you do not have a user ID, you can create one when you make your claim
- UK bank details – payments are made via Bacs, including
sort code
name on the account
your address linked to your bank account
HMRC will contact you directly if you are eligible, but if you would like to apply online visit www.gov.uk.
