Grab a cab to enjoy the summer holidays

london during school holidays

After enduring two of the hottest days on record, it’s typical that the temperature drops and it starts raining as schools break up for the summer holidays.

But don’t let the weather spoil your plans for the summer holidays. Whether you’re going to be jetting off, heading out on day trips, or enjoying nights out, you can rely on taxis to safely get you where you need to go.

After two years of Covid restrictions severely affecting foreign travel, many people can’t wait to go abroad again and getting a taxi to and from the airport is the most convenient way to start and end your journey.

There is a fleet of licensed taxi drivers ready to take you and your family to the airport, with plenty of time to check in and get through security, and without having to pay expensive car parking charges if you chose to drive yourself. It also avoids the hassle of driving home after a long and tiring flight. Many taxi operators have special fares for airport runs and keep an eye on flight times so they are there to meet you when you return.

If you are unable to book, there are also a number of public hire taxis waiting outside airport arrivals, ready to take you wherever you need to go.

For those not jumping on a plane, taxis are a quick and convenient way of making the most of a day out. You don’t have to worry about how much you’re spending on fuel or battle to get there early enough so you can find somewhere to park. You can hop in a cab and enjoy a day at a destination or attraction simply by picking up the phone for a private hire taxi or booking via an app.

And if you’re heading somewhere like London, where traffic can be a nightmare, you’re better off in the hands of an expert like a black-cab driver, who can take you to popular sights such as Buckingham Palace.

Summer is also the heart of the outdoor concert season and getting to and from a large arena to see your favourite band can be a challenge that taxi drivers relish so that you can make the most of the event.

Taxi drivers will also provide a vital service this summer as the train drivers strike continues this week and rolls on into August. The industrial action over pay and conditions will also see action taken by members of the RMT and Aslef unions, as well as station and ticket office workers represented by the TSSA.

For anyone needing to make alternative arrangements to travel, it is worth considering a long-distance taxi journey and discussing the fare with the operator first to see if they will agree a price, especially if you will be looking to make the return journey.

As well as taxi drivers being able to step in and help in difficult situations, they are also on hand to help people enjoy the simple things in life, such as a good night out. We are all aware of the danger caused by drink-drivers and it isn’t worth the risk to yourselves or others to get behind the wheel after you have had a few.

The safest rule is none for the road and by grabbing a taxi, you can enjoy a night out with friends and family and get home safely without spoiling the evening as well as your future.

Whatever you have planned this summer, we hope you enjoy it and use your local taxi operator to help you make the most of it.
